Just Teach One: Amelia

Just Teach One: Amelia: or, the Faithless Briton

I'm delighted that our class is participating in the Just Teach One project.   Along with more than fifteen other classes at colleges and universities at a diverse group of institutions, English 697-2, Reading and Writing the Early American City will read and discuss the 1787 text, Amelia: or, the Faithless Briton.  Our classroom experience will be published in Common-place later this fall.  Go to this blog's Amelia page  to download the text!

English 697-2:

Reading and Writing the Early American City

We are a graduate seminar in the English MA program at UMass Boston exploring the roots of an American urban consciousness in its textual forms.  Our look back at some of the nation's earliest texts will be facilitated by new technologies, especially online archives and full-text editions of out-of-print books.  By the end of the semester, we hope to make available an enhanced electronic edition of an early novel—a new ebook with critical, cultural and pedagogical commentary that will make the novel less obscure, more accessible and readily teachable to Americanists everywhere.
